Dressing The Bed: How To Change A Duvet Cover

What should be a two minute job can turn into a group effort taking half an hour when it comes to changing your duvet cover as people get confused and tangled up. But fear not, a solution is at hand. For a step by step guide of changing your duvet cover, this is the article for you.
Step 1
First of all, you need to take the old duvet cover off your bed, ready to be washed. This will leave your bed free from any unnecessary objects that will only hinder your progress at replacing the duvet cover. The more room you have the better, especially if you have a king sixe duvet cover or even a super king.
Step 2
The second thing to do is to turn your fresh duvet cover inside out. This will all become clear when you start to move it over the duvet itself. You should also lay the blanket out on the bed as you would sleep under it, so the shorter ends are at the head and foot of the bed.
Step 3
So, next you need to grab onto the two corners of the duvet cover which correspond with the two end corners of the blanket. For most covers this will be the two corners at the opposite end of the opening. You may feel silly, but when you have both arms in these corners the duvet may fall over your head, if it does start again and this time bunch the duvet up as you move towards the corners.
Step 4
Next it is time to match those duvet corners to the blanket. You should find yourself stood at the foot of the bed if you followed step 2 closely. Depending on how long your arms are you might need to stretch to be able to reach both corners at once, but just make sure they are tightly held together.
Step 5
Then it’s the fun part. Because I am only 5’5” it can be a struggle to get the duvet cover to surround the entire length of the blanket. With both corners firmly in hand, stand on the bed and give yourself a shake, which will make the duvet cover slide down the blanket. If you are a lot shorter than the duvet then hang it off the bed and you will have more room to work with.
Step 6
Now the duvet should be totally covering the blanket and you will be able to fasten it at the bottom. Shake the duvet once again when it has been fastened and you will have a nice bed to sleep in, although you won’t be worn out when it is this easy to make your bed.
