A Tool for Fun, {Entertainment|Enjoyment|Pleasure| And Leisure In The State Of Kentucky
March 8, 2010
Kentucky is a state that often gets a bad rap for no reason whatsoever. Many people, when thinking about states to vacation in or that they would enjoy living in, completely overlook this southern gem because they’re uninformed about it’s positives. For those looking for city life the metropolises of Louisville or Lexington would be a good place to start. What’s a very little known fact is that the former of those is renowned for the Louisville air conditioning repair and Louisville air conditioning service industries. Kentucky is a lovely state to be for people with a plethora of interests.
Lexington is both an extremely historic and up to date city at the same time. For any people interested in the past out there the city is home to the Mary Todd Lincoln house, the house in which former President Abraham Lincoln’s wife used to reside. It’s a well kept secret that Lincoln was also birthed in Kentucky as well. For further historical adventures in Lexington one could visit at the Hunt-Morgan House, important for the fact that it was home to John Hunt Morgan, a general in the Confederate army and the only Nobel prize winner from Kentucky.
History isn’t everyone’s area of interest and for people not fascinated by relics there is also lots to do for more modern entertainment. Of course Lexington is home to the University of Kentucky and during basketball season tourists, for a hefty price, can take in a basketball game at famed Rupp Arena where the Wildcats have won seven national championships. Also of note is the bourbon trail right outside the city. Anybody can take a tour of one of any number of bourbon distilleries including the most famous bourbon maker, Maker’s Mark. For tsome people, samples and bourbon tasting sessions are an option. Finally, Lexington is known as the thoroughbred capital of the country and was selected to host a worldwide equestrian event in the summer of 2010.
Just to the south and west of Lexington is Louisville, another entertaining and interesting city in Kentucky. Louisville also has much to offer in many standpoints and is also home to one of the most famous sporting events of the year, the Kentucky Derby. Travellers come from all over the globe to see the running of the roses, another name for the race. Musicians, actors, government officials and more all vie to be seen by the cameras at the race dressed to the nines. Somewhat surprisingly, Louisville and the surrounding county are also one of the biggest cities in the nation so there are many nightlife options as well for people wanting to go out and party.
Kentucky is truly and undeniably one of the nation’s true great states that many people could really enjoy if they gave the state a chance. Hopefully with the World Equestrian Games being held in Lexington over the summer of 2010 a number of attendees will recognize the areas true beauty. Between Lexington, Louisville and the gorgeous surrounding countryside there are many things to be pleased with for residents and tourists of the famed bluegrass.
