Finding a Garden Gazebo

March 1, 2010

A Garden Gazebo is a beautiful thing, they were common place in the royal garden’s of kings and queens in days gone by.

Today, they are still common place proving that their value continues to be appreciated.Occasionally, the use of a gazebo can add value to your house price, alternatively it can split the garden into separate parts. An alternative use for a gazebo would be to store gardening tools and lawnmowers especially if you have a large garden.

These days almost anyone can own a garden gazebo, and assemble a garden gazebo in the backyard, garden gazebo kits offer the beauty of a wooden gazebo, many gazebos are available in a huge variety of shapes and sizes, ranging from Victorian and Amish styles to small to party size in diameter. Many gazebos come in kits that you will need to assemble yourself, don’t let this put you off, they are usually really easy to put together and generally they aren’t very expensive so you should be able to find one to suit.

Gazebos not only come in a range of prices they also come in many different materials.Prices of wooden gazebos depend on the type of wood that they are made from, be it pine or one of many types of cedar wood, size is also a factor.Left untreated, your wooden gazebo will start to turn silver grey overtime, if you prefer, you could paint it or stain it if you prefer.Once you have decided on the type of wood that you are after, you will need to establish how big you want it.

The weather in your location will affect the type of material that your gazebo will need to be made out of, the wrong material may not last long in very cold, wet environments.Wood is the most common type of material from which gazebos are made however there are others available like aluminum and vinyl for example.

The huge advantage wood garden gazebos have is that they fit into a garden naturally, adding natural wooden quality that accents and compliments any garden. If you have decided on a wooden gazebo, you will next need to decide whether to get pine or cedar, pine is cheaper but then cedar will last longer.

It shouldn’t take too long to construct your gazebo as the modern versions are usually quite easy to constructBe sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions and lay out all the pieces on the ground before you begin construction. It will be easier to construct if you make the walls on the floor and get some friend to help you put them upright and add the roof. While it is not incredibly trying work, it will generally take a day or two to complete.
