Superb Designer Shades For Your Windows
February 12, 2010
Imagine having superb designer roman shades on your windows in as little time as it takes to install some curtain hardware!
Making a no sew roman shade is insanely easy! First, buy a lined drapery panel in a fabric you like. You can find pre-made drapery panels in any decorating store. Pottery Barn, Bed Bath & Beyond… Tons of net shops have them. So lets take a look at the latest in window covering trends. When on the lookout for your drapery panel, keep the following in mind :
The panel must be at LEAST as wide as your window. It can be wider.
It should be a rod pocket style curtain.
It should be lined
You must love the fabric! Don’t settle… There’s lots of shops out there that sell all kinds of curtain panels… So look around and find what you like.
This is your opportunity to save big money. Many times you’ll be able to find these on sale. I found mine at a clearance sale for 50% off!
Second, purchase 2″ to 3″ wide ribbon that enhances the fabric on your curtain. You could pick a solid velvet that picks up a color… A pattern that matches your room… Whatever works alongside your style and decor.
Third, install an ornamental drapery pole or stand curtain rod over your window.
Next, Slide the curtain onto the rod and evenly adjust the gathers.
Finanlly, add the ribbon
Cut 2 strips of ribbon that are twice the length of your window.
Slide each ribbon over the top of your curtain.
Gather up the lower edge of your curtain and tie the ribbons round the lower edge.
Voila! You now have a cool roman shade on your window without any sewing! This style is designed for minimal to no operation. If you plan on raising and lowering your roman shade frequently then you may want to consider a “sew” roman shade instead.
Happy “no sewing”
