Any item that can be laundered needs to be bagged and put in the dryer. Other items should be wrapped in plastic and placed in a hot area for a few days or in the freezer for two weeks. Ensure to throw away the vacuum bag once you have cleared the dust and dirt from the furniture etc. If you resort to steam cleaning, it would really help since it not only clears the bed bugs, but even the eggs laid are completely cleared.
There are many regulations on using pesticides as a treatment, so it is best you call a professional to treat the area. If your bedding is completed infiltrated with these pests, make sure to dispose off the mattress right away, as no amount of pesticide is going to be of any use. Keep repeating the pest control procedure till the bugs are completely wiped out.
You should vacuum and steams clean on a regular basis and also go in for laundering linens and other bedding items.
